Roasters Showcase: Madcap Coffee Roasters

Roasters Showcase is the occasional events series that we use to help our roaster partners shine: we invite the public to come and meet them, experience their coffees and hear about their philosophy of work. Roasters Showcase has been in existence for about two years; we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming a wide variety of roasters from across the US. Because our headquarters is in Seattle, many of our partners are challenged to make the trip and present their work in person.

This Friday, we’re going to try something new to try to overcome our geographical limitations. Madcap Coffee Roasters from Grand Rapids, MI will be presenting at Roasters Showcase.

Please join us this Friday, August 1 at 10:30 AM to learn more about Madcap, their approach to coffee, and to taste their delicious coffees as we cup them in our lab in Seattle. We will enjoy video presentations made by the crew at Madcap which will give us more insight into what goes into their coffee.

With this new style of showcase, we hope to be able to share and showcase coffees from roasters all over the North America. If you are not able to travel to Seattle, but would like to share your coffee in our lab, please email Ryan Willbur.

What is Nickelsville?
Without shelter, homeless people die on the streets by violence, weather exposure and other dangers. In 2013 alone, nearly 60 people died outside in King County. Nickelsville is two self-managed neighborhoods in Seattle that provide a safe alternative to living on the streets. Residents live in tents or simple structures and take responsibility for maintaining the safety and cleanliness of their camps. While Nickelsville seeks to be largely self-sustainable, they require financial assistance to maintain basic amenities like Honey Buckets, grey water and trash disposal.

Custom GS/3s and Home Barista Basics

4CustomHor

This year at SCAA we showed off four customized GS/3s at the GS/3 Experience. Needless to say, they got a lot of attention. People loved all the different options and getting the chance to learn how to make espresso on the GS/3. We will be offering custom options for the GS/3 in the near future. If you would like to be the first to know when the options are available sign up for updates at www.lamarzoccousa.com/consumer.

Following up on the popularity of the GS/3 Experience at SCAA this year, La Marzocco USA is excited to announce that we will be teaching Home Barista Basics classes this summer. We are offering first come, first serve tickets for people that are interested in attending. The classes will be held in our Seattle showroom on Friday mornings from 8:30 am – 9:30 am. We will be covering the basics behind brewing espresso and milk steaming.

If you’re interested in learning the basics and getting a feel for what it’s like to have a GS/3 in your kitchen, sign up on our Home Barista Basics Eventbrite page.
